Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the commission come from?

Citybase Apartments is effectively a specialist travel agent dealing solely in serviced apartments in London and the rest of the UK. As with all travel agents, when we sell our product (apartment bookings) we gain a commission payment from our suppliers (the companies that operate the apartments).

How much commission will I make?

We calculate your commission simply as 4% of the total net booking value.

Why are you giving away so much of your commission when you are doing all the work?

Your business is very important to us. By sharing our commission with you in this way, our revenue for each booking is vastly reduced. We see this loss as a cost of sale, in the same way as a marketing cost. And by making your commission level very attractive and worthwhile, it acts as a strong incentive.

What is the average commission that I can expect per booking?

We have answered this question in detail here.

Is there a limit to how much commission I can earn?

No, there is no upper limit to how much commission you can earn.

How often will I receive my commission?

You will receive your commission whenever you choose to claim it, providing the amount owed is at least £100.

How can I view and claim my commissions?

Once you register with us, you can access the member area of this website at any time, and from there you can see every booking made and the amount of commission owed to you. You can also see full details of commissions you have previously received. To claim your commission, there is a button in your members area to click on (the button becomes visible once you have at least £100 owing to you). When you click this button an email is sent to us telling us to pay you your commission.

Can I have a look at the members area before i register?

Yes, click here to view our demo pages.  From here you see exactly what you will see when you register.

How do I receive my commission?

Your commission will be sent to the address that you provide when you register in the form of a cheque. However, if you would prefer us to put the money directly into your bank account, please contact us to let us know.

I want commissions to go to a company that is VAT registered, how does this work?

This is very straightforward. When you register with us, you will be asked to indicate if you are VAT registered. If you tick this box, you will be asked for your registered VAT number. Because we then know you are VAT registered, we will remind you each time you claim your commission to submit an invoice to us with the VAT added on top of the commission. We then pay your invoices accordingly.

How does Citybase Agents know which bookings are mine?

Whenever you call us with a booking enquiry, we 'attach' the booking to your membership ID. Subsequently the bookings earn you commission.

How long after a booking has been made will I become eligible to receive my commission?

It generally takes between 1 and 2 months. We invoice the apartments on a monthly basis for the full commission, and as soon as we receive payment, the invoice is 'reconciled' and Citybase Agents instantly recognises that there is commission ready for you. From your members area you will be able to see all of those bookings for which commissions are in the processing stage. Essentially, we want you to receive all commissions as quickly as possible, and we work very hard to achieve a fast turnaround.
